Justice League is set to be one of the biggest movie releases of 2017, bringing together the many superheroes of the DC Extended Universe. Zack Snyder is back in the director’s chair following his work on Man of Steel and Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, while Ben Affleck will be donning the cowl once more as the Dark Knight, Batman. Despite his fate in BVS, Superman (Henry Cavill) will be resurrected to return in some capacity, whilst Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), The Flash (Ezra Miller) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher) will be forced to unite to take on Steppenwolf (Ciaran Hinds) and his army of Parademons. Following his live-action film debut in Captain America: Civil War, T’Challa (as played by Chadwick Boseman) is going to be starring in his own solo Marvel Cinematic Universe movie, in Black Panther. The Black Panther film will be the first Marvel Studios movie to feature a black superhero as its protagonist. The screenplay for the movie was co-written by Joe Robert Cole and Ryan Coogler (Creed), with the latter serving as the film’s director too.

Supernatural is one of the most popular shows to ever broadcast on American television network The CW, with Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles winning legions of fans since their debut as brothers Sam and Dean Winchester all the way back in 2005. Now over a decade old, the series is still reeling in the viewers each and every week and, with 12 seasons under its belt, it shows no signs of slowing down.

The latest trailer for Marvel’s next outing, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, has been breaking records as fans go wild over the return of our favorite team of spacefaring heroes… and of course, the adorable Baby Groot. Our first real look at the highly anticipated Spider-Man: Homecoming is also on the way, with fans thrilled to see Tom Holland in his first solo movie after this latest version of the web-slinger was introduced in Captain America: Civil War.

There was a time not too long ago when it looked like Ryan Reynolds’ career as a movie star was about over. His 2011 Green Lantern film was a financial disappointment, spawned no sequels, and when the DCEU was launched he and his version of the character were left behind. Reynolds didn’t have another hit for several years afterward, starring in such forgettable fare as The Change Up, Safe House and R.I.P.D.

With the rise of superhero blockbusters and big budget comic book adaptations in Hollywood, the trend has carried over to television — and arguably no network has embraced the art of shared superhero universes quite as wholeheartedly as The CW. Since the debut of Arrow in 2012, The CW has grown its DC TV universe to include two spinoffs in The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow, in addition to acquiring the CBS transplant Supergirl that made its network debut earlier this fall.

There is no denying that over the last few years, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has elevated himself to becoming one of the biggest names in Hollywood. He has expanded past just action films by moving into the comedic realm as well, and has lined up many future projects as a result. His involvement in Fast 8 and his sequel to Jumanji are two of his biggest upcoming projects – but for his comedic abilities, his feature length Baywatch reboot is one to be on the look-out for.

With 2016 nearly at an end, moviegoers have started to look forward to the film slate of 2017. There will be no shortage of massive franchise fare next year, and one of the bigger projects on the horizon is Transformers: The Last Knight. The fifth installment in the lucrative action series, Last Knight is being positioned as a new entry point for viewers, as well as the first step in Paramount’s plan to annualize the property with new releases each year.

Back in the early to mid-2000s, Brad Pritt, George Clooney, and Matt Damon combined forces with Steven Soderbergh and a wide cast of characters around to pull of heists in a reimagining of the Ocean’s Eleven property that first came about in 1960. The group of actors turned the single movie idea into an unlikely trilogy. And though it has been almost a decade since the last installment, Warner Bros. has found a way to bring the franchise back as an all-female spinoff titled Ocean’s 8.

After using actresses/models such as Megan Fox and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Michael Bay brought Nicola Peltz into the Transformers universe for Transformers: Age of Extinction. She was one of the new faces introduced in the franchise after a complete cast re-haul. As Tessa Yeager, the daughter of inventor Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg), she was featured prominently throughout the fourth film.
